I forgot my password for Steganos PasswordManager.
Search for a file named password.sef. This file is the pin-container. If you definitely cannot remember the password to open, you have to delete this file. We are using safe algorithms and program codes without any backdoors or master passwords only. Therefore it is impossible for us to open any encrypted file without the appropriate password either.
By default you will find the password.sef here:
For Version 11 (2009):
- Windows VISTA:
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\Steganos\%NAME_OF_THE_PROFILE%.esf - Windows XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\%USERNAME%\Application Data\Steganos *\%NAME_OF_THE_PROFILE%.esf
for all other versions
- Windows VISTA:
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\Steganos\password.sef - Windows 2000 and XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\%USERNAME%\Application Data\Steganos *\password.sef - Windows 9x and ME:
C:\Windows\Application Data\Steganos *\password.sef
